October 2009. Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos
I am not a beach person. I don’t find pleasure in spending hours in the sun. It makes me tired and gives me headaches. Plus most beaches seem to be so similar to one another.
But Torunga Beach on Santa Cruz island in Galapagos is mind blowing! It is long, wide and the sand is incredibly white. On the top of that there is hardly anyone there, so for most of the time you get the place just for yourself. The worst case scenario is that you have to share it with a handful of other people.
And there are the sea iguanas. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Most just lay on the beach, enjoying warm sun, but sometimes you can catch one of them heading for a swim. Amazing!
